Away without a film crew

Incredible things happened last weekend.

A: We went away (to Albury) without a film crew OR our offspring

B: I forgot to take my camera and had to use a mobile phone

As you can see by the cafe pics, it was SUNNY and WARM!!

I don’t know why, but we ended up with a car full of random things, including a purple Thai umbrella(!) which had to sit right across the middle of us in the car as it is about 3.5 metres long. Colin asked ‘What is that for?’. What an odd question.

Saturday was for shopping and Sunday was for eating, drinking, eating, drinking and some eating and drinking. The Wineries, Cheese factory, Chocolate and food places got a thrashing. Not to mention the Cappuccino feast.

Overall, it was hard to take, but we managed.

The mongrel?

Our dog, Marley, has that Terrier in him which instinctively causes him to do things which other dogs wouldn’t dream of. Somehow, he has managed to tear the ligaments in his knee and for the past week he has been walking on 3 legs. He is in no pain but is meant to be kept quiet (!!!).

For the first few days he made the most of Sophie’s sympathy and pity and tolerated her ‘mothering’ him. Now, however, he is managing to charge around like a mad thing on 3 legs. You can’t even begin to imagine how fast he can move.

Colin has always adored him and given him more privelages than a dog should have….. but now that he needs a $1,000 operation (which is only 50% likely to work), Colin is referring to him as ‘the mongrel’.

It’s raining blogs

Last week a started a new blog for work. It hasn’t quite taken its true form yet but I am hoping it will be a good resource for us Web 2 and e-learning lovers:)

The other blog address is https://swineblogger.wordpress.com

Let’s hope that Swinburne are not fussed about being referred to as a ‘Swine’. It wasn’t intentional (promise!), it just evolved when I was trying to find a name which hadn’t already been taken. I think it’s kinda cute anyhow…… I must find me a picture of a Swine to put in the header. Then I can REALLY get myself into strife.

The last filming day (again!!)

This weekend was the final (3rd time!!) film shoot weekend for the movie: Elindils Secret.

Last night the guys did a marathon effort and filmed until 3.30am. Then we started again at 8am today, driving off to Warburton for a fight scene.

It was our last day and Peter’s first so it was a bit daunting, I am sure, for him to be thrown into a movie at this stage. As well as being punched up by David, plastered in fake blood (see Jen armed above), thrown onto a dirty wet forest floor and cramped up in a small space with the camera looming at close quarters. He did a great job and hopefully it will look terrific on film.

This afternoon we filmed ‘inside’ scenes, which is just as well as it was getting pretty chilly and damp outside. The wardrobe (my job) went completely haywire with things getting thrown together at last minute and decisions being made about which boxer shorts, robes and other random items on the spot. People were filling in for people and places were really other places. No wonder we all get confused. Is anything really anything in this film world???

I have already said my goodbyes and fond farewells (after the last final shoot day!?) so I won’t do it again.

Watch this space for more final shoot days!

A weekend of therapy!

Sophie and I went to Brisbane to the Scrapbook and papercraft conference for the long weekend.

It was just what the doctor ordered (some of you will be glad you don’t go to MY doctor lol).

We laughed until we cried (on several occassions), stressed over getting our workshops done and spread ‘Kindy Glitz’ all over our Motel room

Apart from the actual fun of doing all the workshops, I really enjoyed my daughters company. She is such a cool and funny person to be with:)

As well as the scrapbooking and papercraft workshops, we also did some Photoshop classes and learned from a professional photographer….. not that you could tell from this blog at all lol.

Now I have the rest of the week off and I am really looking forward to spending some ‘me’ time at home. After all that filming and working full time it has taken it’s toll on me.

Today, was going to be the only day I have had to myself for so long I can’t remember. Would you believe it? Shan took his first day off for 6 years ( he is sick…… he NEVER gets sick!!) and Blake phoned today to say he was coming home for a few days.

There is no chance of being lonely when you are a Mum it seems lol!

Birthday bash

Grandma\'s birthdayGrandma was 93 last Sunday and we had an afternoon tea for her at my cousin’s restaurant (Thai Orchid, Maroonday Hwy Ringwood).

She enjoyed 2 helpings of birthday cake and a large biscuit and then complained she had a headache (sugar rush??).

She seemed to enjoy herself none the less and told me ‘I had grown’, as she usually does!!

Blake is helping me to restore an old cartoon my father had done. I am going to put it into a hard cover book (using iphoto) and give it to her for her birthday…… when we get it finished…. which could be when she is 94 at this rate!!

Blake and fame

Blake doesn’t know the least thing about Hip Hop so this is a most unlikely cover page for him. He is much more likely to be on the ‘Roots and blues’ hippy mag. Unfortunately it wasn’t an option. Now that he has a red ukulele with fruit stickers on it, I doubt very much that he will enjoy being penned as a Hiphopper. Maybe I have successfully ruined his image? That’s what mothers are for.

Its a wrap!

Yes….. finally ….. it is a wrap!

Yesterday started off badly (for me) with a small costume error which sent me up to Warburton where I wouldn’t have otherwise gone!! In hindsight, it was great to be there and watch the final ‘outside’ shooting and be with the team. I may kill Colin yet, but that’s another story too incriminating to explain in a public posting!

After the Warburton shooting, Jen, Andy and I snuck in for a cappuccino at Karunga nursery before going on to Donchi’s for the final shoot. It was lovely to spend some time with 2 friends I have met during the production and have grown very fond of.

Speaking of fondness….. the whole film crew and cast have been awesome to work with and I have really enjoyed the experience. We finished the day off with a fitting ‘break up party’ at Lukes where we watched all the ‘behind the scenes’ movies, bloopers and the filming (minus music, sound effects, audio and Computer generated effects). It was a great way to finish up and reflect on a fantastic effort by all and have a laugh and reminisce!! Seeing the film credits roll at the end made it all very real!

I wouldn’t know who to start thanking or who to thank the most once I got started so I just want to say a special THANKS to everyone for your friendship and patience. You are a top lot and I will never forget this experience. It will be nice to have a rest from washing the smelly garments but other than that it has been a total pleasure.

See you all on the red carpet guys!!
